AROUND THE FARM

This is our page for posting candid snapshots of life around Keepsake Farm.  We will also sometimes post information here about upcoming events.  We love sharing the special moments of our beloved alpaca family!

Winter Wonderland at Keepsake Farm!

They all loved the snow ...

... but the ice, not so much!

"Just gave birth two days ago, let me introduce you to my new youngster,
her name is Keepsake Vanilla Shake."

Vanilla Shake is a beauty! We call her Nilla!

"Here I am with Coco ... Coco is about two weeks older than me."

Keepsake Pilgrim was born premature November 21st, hence the name Pilgrim. The picture was taken about a half hour after his birth.  His mom did not have any milk, and he had a rough first week.  We were not sure if we were going to be able to save him but between the vet and our family doing everything we could, he made it!

This newborn is Keepsake Danno (with his mom) also born at the beginning of November.  We had a total of 4 "cria" born on the farm in 2010, two females
(Nilla and Coco) in the Spring and two males (Danno and Pilgrim) in November.

Danno, at just one hour old!

Shearing Day takes place once per year, usually in April, where all of our animals get sheared, receive their annual vaccinations, dentistry and general herd health care.  Many people participate in shearing day.

We need about 15-20 people to work the assembly line project for speed so as to not stress the animals.  If we do it right, it should only take about 15 -20 minutes to do all their shearing and handle the herd care at this time.  Interested in helping out? Give us a call or email us.

"I’m bald and a little embarrassed!"

"Feeeels sooo good!  I’ll be cool for the summer.”

National Alpaca Farm Day, held in September 2010.  We opened our farm to the community and had over 200 visitors over a two day period from 1-4pm each day.

We gave about a half hour educational talk about alpacas and then took two groups at a time to visit and get to know the alpacas.  It was a successful two days!
